Out of Sync

After my last post I was still expecting a game from my buddy but to no avail. and because of the holidays a hobby kink struck me. I was no longer interested in playing my favorite hobby or anyhing else. I picked up a copy of Sandy Mitchells' Ciaphus Cain novel "Hero of The Imperium" and began reading through it. It's the first time I read any of his novels and can say that these novels are a must read (which I will review later with his newest novel). Right now the novel is inspiring me to play 40k but right I'm also got hooked with Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which I got with a new PS3 for Christmas :) I'm also looking into getting Black Ops later on since it's all the rage right now with my family, but anyway... I'm looking into creating my own Commissar inspired by Ciaphus Cain and using Yarricks stats from the IG codex to do so. I also was able to finish painting 2 of my girls (from the previous post), 8 catachin/cadain mixed models for a vet sqd., 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks, and 20 kasrkin stormtroopers (which I'm rethinking of painting 10 to a Harakoni color scheme now since reading the omnibus). Now writing this out I think I just burnt myself out because of the painting because it took me two weeks to do this for a tournament/game that never occured but anyway... I'm back and ready to start the hobby anew :)

Underestimated Unit

Sorry for the long wait on a post but I was waiting on my friend to come over and play a game of 40k so I can post up a battle report but no luck. So instead I would like to write about the Imperial Guard Stormtroopers. I know that they are an expensive unit but I think they are worth every point if played with the Airborne Doctrine. They can bring alot of fire power on board when they deepstrike in were you want them. Imagine dropping 2 inches away from a monstrous creature/vehicle or a large bothersome squad and hose them down with AP3 hot-shot lasfire, melta, or plasma with either a 5 or 10 man sqd. For me they work best as either a 5 man melta squad or a 10 man plasma squad. You may think that if only they don't scatter somewhere disasterous. To you I say, " that's why airborne allows you to re-roll the scatter dice." If you scatter badly after the re-roll then the dice gods are not with you. Remember that 40k is just a game and taking risks is a big fun factor in it. When the risk pays off your fun just doubled.

Afriel strain....Nork?

LOL. Not exactly but I bet his DNA was used for the project. I've been hearing about how effective people are using ogryn squads and being surprisingly successful. The big problem for me in doing this is that I DO NOT want to pay 22 bucks per Ogryn model to field them.
So I was thinking what I can use in-leu. While looking through my old issues of white dwarf (which I purchased when it first published), there is an article in issue 303 that talks about genetically engineered super humans with the drawback of having very bad luck and granting the opposing force preffered enemy against these guardsman but they had the awesome abilities of they old Imperial heroes that they are cloned after.
So I've decided to get a box of scout space marines for the same price as one ogryn model and count my scouts(painted as afriel strained guardsmen) as ogryns(what a mash up).
I think it's a good idea and a great way to make my guard a little unique in a sense. So tell me what you guys think.

New Girls on the Block

Sorry for the crappy pic but it is quick phone pic of my the Escher trio I found. I'm still deciding on who will be what. The shotgun chick can very well sit in as a Straken stand-in or a vet and the other two as bodyguards. One thing for sure is the juvie will be a bodyguard. The chick with the power sword can be a vet sgt. or a bastonne stand in as long as I replace the pistol for a plasma one. If you guys have any ideas please let me know.

New Hero of the Imperium

I finally got a chance to look through the new Dark Eldar codex and thought it was great. I'm happy that they finally got a chance to see that they were rejuvenated and were given more heroes. While looking through the heroes section it occurred to me that the Imperial guard does't have a female hero even when they are described as being a diverse fighting force. If your saying that they let alone have female figures, well your right but they do and are hard to get a hold of, I fortunately have quite a few. Looking into more box of sprues and figures I collected through my time playing games-workshop products, I discovered some female Escher gang minis from Necromunda. I thought to myself that I'm going to develop a female hero myself and introduce her soon to my regiment as a veteran sergeant. So please stand by and hopefully I'll have her set up next week and have a picture session to put up :) So please stand by.

The cammies will be changed at a later date but they must go through my new induct before continueing on to new and better things. Here's a video of the induct my boys have to go through before continuing on to be some the best Imperial Troops the Imperium has to offer. So please sign up to follow me on this new trip. Enjoy :)
